This morning Cupcakes was still sleeping soundly when Mama went to wake her up. She gestured for milk. After she had some milk, she gestured for the pacifier. Was she going to be asleep on the way to school like Mama used to do through second grade? She woke up. Mama changed her diaper and dressed her. As soon as Mama put her in front of the mirror, she smiled really big at Mama. What a way for Mama to start her day!
It was chilly enough this morning that Mama put Stuart's coat with mouse ears on Cupcakes on the way to daycare. Cupcakes cried on and off during the day. From the report Mama noticed that Cupcakes took 5 30-minute naps. Good job, baby! That's a lot better than the 3-5 20-minute naps. They were surprised that Cupcakes did not cry more for having had three and half days off. Mama hopes that Cupcakes is getting used to daycare.
Cupcakes started crying about twenty minutes before Mama got there to pick her up at the end of the day. As soon as she saw Mama, she stopped crying. She misses Mama during the day.
On the way home Mama gave Cupcakes the foot teether just like the one she likes at daycare. Cupcakes is holding and biting. Mama tried giving Cupcakes the zwieback toast as Dr. Roberts (Mama's dentist) suggested the other day, and Cupcakes licked the toast instead of biting on them to thin out her gum, making it easier for the teeth to pop through later. Auntie Iris got Cupcakes some more of the toast. We will try again later. Auntie Iris also got Cupcakes some pink soothie pacifiers. They are supposedly very good. Thank you very much, Auntie Iris!!
When we got home Daddy asked to dip Cupcakes' feet in the water. Mama had the same idea. We did, and Cupcakes enjoyed it! Today she seemed to have enjoyed her shower the most of all times, too.

Cupcakes in shorts
Cupcakes cried for about four hours in the middle of the night after Uncle Michael complimented her for being a good baby. Daddy was considerate of Mama and took her out to the living room. Mama was so passed out that she didn't even know that two-thirds of the family was not in the room half of the night. When Mama "came to," Daddy asked Mama to use her intuition to figure out what Cupcakes wanted. No, it's not easy being a parent nowadays, haha. Cupcakes' forehead felt hot. Mama took her temperature, and she had one of 99 degrees. Mama "knew" that the little fever would be gone by the morning, so she was not too worried. Mama nursed Cupcakes, and Mama and Daddy let Cupcakes sleep between them. Cupcakes fell asleep right away. In the morning Cupcakes' fever was gone.
Cupcakes napped for most of the day. She will be ready for daycare tomorrow.
Mama had to burp Cupcakes more often this weekend. She wondered if it wasn't the dairy in the ice cream that she's been having all week causing more gas in Cupcakes. The pediatrician suggested for Mama to not have milk, and whenever Mama's had milk, Cupcakes seems to have had more gas. Mama will stop. Burping Cupcakes reminded Mama of burping Cupcakes a lot her first couple of months.
Daddy and Mama took Cupcakes out for a couple walks. During the afternoon walk Daddy got Cupcakes' legs out of the sleeper. We caught Cupcakes sucking on her thumb for the first time!

Cupcakes is a jeab.
We visited with Auntie Jeab, owner of Mae Phim, at her brother's restaurant, Golden Sinhga in Belltown. Auntie Jeab gave Cupcakes a Thai nickname, Jeab, which means little chicken, for her hair. I don't think we can find a better picture than the one Mama just took a couple minutes ago to capture the essence of Cupcakes' new nickname. Dinner was very yummy. We recommend it to those of you who like Thai food. We will be back to visit, Auntie Jeab!
Cupcakes visits Theo Chocolate!
We were about 10 minutes late to the Theo Chocolate in Fremont (in the old Red Hook Brewery building) and missed the chocolate factory tour. Auntie Penny and Cupcakes posed in front of the free samples that we enjoyed. Theo Chocolate make several dark chocolates and also vanilla chocolate, curry chocolate, chocolate with bread, chocolate with nibs (crushed cocao beans) and chai chocolate. We highly recommend a trip!
Daddy wore Cupcakes forward in the Baby Bjorn for the first time.

Cupcakes is reaching!
At the last wellness check up a week or so ago the pediatrician asked whether Cupcakes was reaching. This weekend I know for sure that she is. During tummy time she reached for the bag of wet wipes that she has been eyeing for the past couple of months and pulled it towards her.
She is able to roll over when Mama guides her by holding one of her hands. She rolled over from the back to the tummy a couple times by herself Saturday morning, but she is still not doing it consistently yet.
We visited with Uncle Ben at his tea shop, Vital-T Leaf, downtown Seattle.
Mama is no Vikki, but Mama reads and sings to Cupcakes first thing after Cupcakes wakes up. Sunday morning Cupcakes sang with Mama! Thank you for the books, Auntie Sharon/Uncle Ron, Auntie Thao/Uncle Paul, Auntie Cecilia/Uncle Mike and Auntie Kristin/Uncle Scott! (Cupcakes is a well loved baby!) We are looking forward to the Chinese baby books that Auntie Boo is bringing back from Hong Kong for Cupcakes and the ones coming from Auntie P in Taiwan. Mama took ahma's suggestion and reads Good Night Moon to Cupcakes in Chinese, ha.

Aunties Kim and Yvonne visited!
Yes!! Aunties Kim and Yvonne came to visit with Cupcakes. They have been very busy, so we have not seen them for over a month. (We did visit with Auntie Kim at work once.) Mama picked up Cupcakes from daycare early the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Cupcakes and Mama napped for most of the afternoon, so Cupcakes was able to stay up to visit. Aunties helped clean Cupcakes up before Mama tucked her in. Auntie Yvonne changed Cupcakes for the first time, and she did a great job. Auntie Kim supervised, hee.
Aunties Kim and Yvonne brought two new outfits for Cupcakes. Cupcakes has been lucky and well loved. We have enjoyed and appreciated all the gifts that you have given her and us!
Thank you for visiting, Aunties Kim and Yvonne!

Taking it easy at home!
Daddy and Mama cuddled with Cupcakes before she went to bed Saturday evening. (Please excuse the pile of unfolded laundry in the back, ha.)
Sunday morning Mama rolled Cupcakes over in bed while Daddy slept. Then on her own Cupcakes rolled over from the tummy to her back in bed a couple times and once after her diaper was changed while Mama watched her.
Mama played with Cupcakes for an hour and half, and Daddy took care of Cupcakes until he had to leave for church. Cupcakes napped for three hours this afternoon, and Mama and Daddy got to love her a little before they tucked her in for the evening. It's a very good thing that Cupcakes is napping more on the weekends now. She dozes off at daycare about 3-4 times for about twenty minutes each time. She did not nap much on the weekends for the first month. She is getting more used to daycare, smiling more and crying less. (We hold her too much on the weekends, so Mondays are always hard when people can't hold her all day.)
At her four-month wellness check-up Dr. Spector emphasized the importance of having Cupcakes on her tummy for 45 minutes a day. (He seemed to imply that Cupcakes should be rolling over more than just the once during her third month. However, it cannot hurt for her to be building the necessary muscles either.) Mama had Cupcakes on her tummy in bed and also later during reading time. The music and colors in the book from Auntie Carla get Cupcakes' attention every time. (Boy, can Cupcakes drool!)
Uncle Eric visited before taking off for Boston.

Cupcakes' First Volunteering Experience
Cupcakes has been sick. Mama has been more or less stressed out. This is Mama's excuse for not having updated the blog in three weeks. The first cold lasted a couple weeks. Cupcakes got a second cold before she fully recovered from the first cough. Ahgong and ahma took care of Cupcakes this past Friday, and she seemed to have gotten a lot better.
Cupcakes signed the card for Auntie Jennifer's baby shower as we started the day. With the Bumbo chair that Auntie Liz lent her, she is able to sit at the table like a bigster. She traced her hand and signed inside the hand - what a clever idea! (The hand print had a big thumb because Cupcakes kept moving her hand.)
After signing the card Cupcakes read a bit, and Daddy came over to help her put some socks on before heading out.
Jacki at Page Ahead enjoyed having Cupcakes. Page Ahead, a not-for-profit organization located across the street from Kids Centre downtown Seattle, collects donations and buys books to hand out to children that may not own books otherwise. Cupcakes read, napped in Mama's lap and helped with the bulk mailing. When she wasn't in anyone's lap, she sat at her spot at the table. (Thank you, Auntie Liz, for your handmade swaddling blankets. Thank you, Auntie Iris, for the pacifier!)
