Cups in the pool at 9pm

It was extremely warm. We had a week in the high 90s and low 100s. Cups asked to go in the pool around nine, and Mama said okay. The water was warm and little enough that Cups leaned against the side and went as far as lying on her back. From the last picture we can all tell how much Cups loves her pool.

Aunties Yvonne & Kim

We bumped into Aunties Yvonne (in the picture) and Kim at the blueberry farm.

They came over, and we had fun catching up.

Cups went blueberry eating

Cups did a very good job eating blueberries during her visit to a blueberry farm.

BR after a summer shower

It was so warm that we decided to go out for ice cream. Then it started raining. We "braved" through the rain, and the reward was worth the effort.

Our second pool guest

Olivia came over in the evening. She was our second guest in the pool. The girls had fun.

Our first pool guest

Baby Elizabeth came shortly after we constructed the pool. Wow, we had our first guest in the pool. Welcome, Baby Elizabeth!

Cups' pool!!

First thing Saturday morning Cups accompanied Mama to Target to get a pool. We found a perfect one. It has a roof to block the little sun that the pool gets throughout the day. We are in business!

Visit with Uncle Reynold

Uncle Reynold, Auntie Joy and Auntie Linda (Auntie Joy's sister) visited from Vancouver BC. It was fun for us to have visited with them a little before bedtime.

Molly Moon on Capitol Hill

Auntie Jacqui had dinner ready for us when we got home. After dinner we took Auntie Jacqui to Molly Moon on Capitol Hill for ice cream. As we were about to get on I-5, auntie asked whether we needed to go that far for ice cream. It's always interesting to have a different perspective from visitors because that question had never entered Mama's mind before. We ate ice cream in Cal Anderson Park across the street, and Cups got a chance to run around — with Bear. Auntie enjoyed her mojito sorbet much, and Mama and Cups enjoyed our favorite ginger.

Bear visiting

Auntie Jacqui and Bear drove up from Berkeley to visit with us for a few days fun!

Auntie Boo reading to Cups

Auntie Boo stayed to read to Cups after an evening out with the family. Thank you very much, Auntie Boo! You are the best. :D

Summer Fest in West Seattle with Auntie Boo

We walked to the Junction and had elephant ear, roasted corn and ice cream — fun and yum!

First day of Summer Fest 2009

Cups and Mama made it home to attend the first day of Summer Fest in West Seattle. It was so warm out that we got an ice cream cone from McD at the beginning of the walk.

Cups is good with sharing.

The Hi-Yu float had cupcake seats on it.

We saw a 12-week Andy look-alike puppy — cute!!

Visiting with ah-zo

We went up north to visit ah-zo in Vancouver, BC first thing Sunday morning. We have not seen ah-zo in over a year. Last time we had the luxury of visiting ah-zo was when Mama was on unemployment. Cups wouldn't call ah-zo until it was time to go, and she called ah-zo several times then.

Cups with her pretty dress

Auntie Jeannie got Cups this pretty dress. It goes all the way down to her shins. Ahgong and ahma took us out for dinner when we arrived in Bellingham Thursday, the day after we got home from California. (Mama wanted to maximize the 10-day vacation.) Thank you, Auntie Jeannie!!!

Homebound

Auntie Kay took us to Yogurtland one more time before we left OC. Cups napped soon after the airplane took off around six in the evening. She had a surprised/scared reaction to seeing the plane getting further away from the ground for the first time. She buckled herself in before lying down. This is her fourth time traveling (after going to Hawaii, Boston and the Netherlands), and she started behaving like an experienced traveler already. (She put her jacket over her head.)

Cups really missed her kitchen. She went straight to her kitchen when we got home around ten. Somehow it took an extra hour airport to airport. The next morning she asked Mama to take her to her kitchen as soon as she woke up.

My silly baby

Still silly and happy after a long day at Disneyland. . .

When asked what she thought of Disneyland, she replied, "Scary!" Mama had a great time taking Cups. Thank you for taking us, sharing in the joy, treating us to yummy lunch and helping us navigate through both parks, Auntie Kay!!

On the rocket ride

Hey, Mama didn't make it in the picture!

Cups looked around curiously. We were on the rocket ride that swung out further and further from the center. This was the only Bigs' ride that Cups got on (and our last ride) for the day.

One can easily get sick from looking towards the center. Mama kept telling Cups to look out. She did both, haha.

At the end of the ride, Mama was surprised to see that Cups had a great time!

Bumper cars

Cups stood under the ruler again for Mama to take a picture. When she stood straight the first time, she barely made the mark. The attendant let us in.

Cups didn't like the bumping part. Mama used to not liking getting stuck in a position. That happened to us once. Towards the end of the ride Mama was able to drive around without bumping others or being bumped. Cups liked that better.
