Cupcakes was so happy to see Mama when Mama went to pick up Cupcakes. Cupcakes waved her arms around and laughed. Mama couldn't be happier with the new care that Cupcakes receives during the day.
When we got home Cupcakes picked up a book even though she was tired. We read together as Cupcakes winded down for her nap. On the way to the bedroom Cupcakes put her mouth to Mama's face several times and stuck her tongue out each time. Cupcakes, were you trying to kiss Mama?
Cupcakes had a shower when she woke up. She got to play in the tub, too. After going swimming, Mama turned Cupcakes belly down for the first time in the tub, and that seemed fun for Cupcakes, too.
We took Cupcakes for a walk around sunset, and when we got home Cupcakes was relaxed. Mama asked Daddy to put Cupcakes in her crib while Mama did the dishes. Cupcakes babbled even after Daddy had fallen asleep. Mama re-swaddled Cupcakes, and she fell asleep on her own shortly afterwards - yay. Cupcakes slept by herself for the first three months of her life. Then Mama couldn't stand her coughing in her crib when she got colds going to the daycare. Mama started putting her in the big bed. (And Mama was just thinking today that Cupcakes has not been sick since she left the old daycare about five weeks ago - yay!!) Then Mama got too tired to pick her up and put her back for middle-of-the-night nursings, so Mama continued to keep her in the big bed. (Plus it's comfortable to sleep next to her. Okay, the idea is comforting. She sometimes kicks. turns diagonally and moves too close to Mama.) Mama has been helping Cupcakes fall asleep, but it's excellent when she's able to soothe herself to sleep in the crib. Mama's saving grace with the sleeping situation is that Cupcakes has not been particular about where she sleeps. She can sleep alone or with Mama.
The outfit from Annika is so cute. Thank you, Auntie Lisa and Annika!!
Cupcakes is not a particularly active baby. Interestingly she consumes just enough milk for her. At the new daycare she drinks about 6-8 oz during a nine-hour period. She nurses when she is hungry at home. Cupcakes did not roll over until two weeks before her six month wellness check up - a week after she turned six months old. Mama had told Cupcakes that Daddy would be taking her to the appointment if she didn't roll over by then because Dr. Spector had expected her to roll over at four months. Mama was not about to tell him no twice. To date Cupcakes still only rolls over in one direction and only from the back to belly and not the other way around. Mama hears that not wanting to be on the tummy provides babies with the incentive to roll over, but that was not the case with Cupcakes. Today Cupcakes pushed herself to the crawling position. She's not moving yet, but it's perfect whenever she is ready.
